Creative Critical Reflection: Music Video

Image
Creative Critical Reflection 1.   1.  . How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or  issues? m  My video challenges conventions by showing two boys falling in love, instead of the typical guy/girl dynamic. It shows two guys slowly getting to know each other and growing closer, just like how real world relationships work. It also shows it in a romantic, innocent way versus how gay relationships are often portrayed in the media. The way gay relationships are portrayed in the media tend to be typically negative, secretive, and/or "dirty", and involve sex versus shy, innocence and hand holding.       It represents social groups because it represents gay youths and uses trans and non-binary people in the filming. Representation is important. Seeing romantic relationships between LGBTQ people should be normalized. We need to see more relationships like this portrayed like this in the media. If i...

Music Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7fZomtKipM And here is our final product. We weren't able to do everything we wanted to do but we tried our best. The filming took 2 days while the editing only took one. We were going to go to a park but we were left alone at the time so we just did it in the backyard. But in the end I think we did pretty good for what we were able to do.

Editing the Music Video

Image
We started editing on the 6th of December.  It was a bit difficult and it broke a few times but we managed to get it to work.  Also while we were filming a decided to change it up a bit from the storyboard but not really a whole lot.  My partner was the main one who did the editing since they knew more about editing then I do, but they did show me what to do for the future.

Filming the Music Video

Image
We did the filming at my house and most of it took place outside during the day, par for the scenes that took place at night.  I gathered most of the props for the scenes and set them up while my partner got ready for the shoot, though I did cut my finger in the process.  During filming there were a few mess ups, but that's all apart of the process, and we worked through it to make sure each scene was perfect.  I did my own makeup, which took around 10 minutes to get done.  Some of the props used include two bottles of dyed water, some tea cups, a candle, and a glass ball.

Storyboard for the Music Video

First Scene: In the first scene we are going to have someone walk in front of the camera following a rabbit while the instruments play   Second Scene: In the second scene we are going to have our first guy (Gamzee) introduce himself. It will seem like he's talking to us directly but instead he's actually talking to the other guy (Tavros). From this point, we are seeing things the way he sees. Third Scene: In the third scene we are going to show them having what seems to be tea time and having a conversation. Forth Scene: In the forth scene we are going to show the two walking and talking. Slowly getting closer together. Fifth Scene: In the fifth scene I actually was thinking about changing it to them creating potions together as they continued to talk and laugh.   Sixth Scene: In the sixth scene we see Tavros introducing himself to Gamzee. From this point we're going to mainly focus on Tav and how he handles things. Seventh Scene: In the seventh scene the two will be seen r...

Thanksgiving Break

Image
Hello there. So during the break me and my partner weren't able to do any filming due to complications, but we were both able to get our outfits and items that we needed for our video so that was good. That's about it but we are going to start our filming prosses really soon. See ya until then!
