Planning for my Music Video

Image
Song Title: Welcome to Wonderland by Anson Seabra Props:  Potion bottles, tea cups, bunny plushie, food and a couple other fantasy like things! Costumes:  The costumes are going to be like ones that are in the movie Alice in Wonderland but with a bit more of a mainstream like style since its a pop song. Schedule:  I don't really have any confirmed dates since some personnel stuff is going on but I know that during the break we are going to do the filming for a day or 2 (depending on how it goes) and editing for the rest of the day that we finish. Location:  Most of the filming will be taking place outside so possibly a park that has a nice open field with a few flowers.  Backup Plan:  If it rains then we'll film everything inside but try to at least make the background look like that we are outside. Also if we cant go to a park we'll just do the filming in the backyard.

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

My songs genre is pop.  Pop usually has people in very stylish and main stream cloths that seem very sexual.  There is usually a lot of bright colors in pop songs.  Also pop songs usually include a lot of beats that are very     dance-orientated.  The way they film the videos are as if they are telling a short story through movement and certain  activates that could relate to the song.  We will most likely not do anything to make it seem sexual since the song we choose isn't like that.  Also for the outfits we are probably going to go for a semi-fantasy semi-main stream look.  While filming we are going to have someone help use film the scenes that include both of us so that it will be easier.  They also use angles like eye level, low angle shot, high angle shot, birds' eye angle, close ups, medium shots, and wide shots. Eye level is used to show what it would look like if we were actually there. It's seen as a...

Music Video Project      For this project I decided to actually work with someone on this.  The person helping me is my partner Faith.  I chose to work with them because they were really interested when I brought it up to them.  Plus since we had the same taste in music I knew that we would both be able to pick a song that we both equally like.  The song that we both agreed on was the song Welcome to Wonderland  by Anson Seabra.  The reason why we chose this song was because we both love fantasy.  We feel as if the song gives us a lot of creative freedom to do whatever we want that's fantasy related.  The best part is that its a good thing that we both really enjoy to cosplay as characters that we like from either shows, games, movies and comics.  We are going to give this our best effort and make this as great as possible!

Creative Critical Reflection

1. How does your product  use or challenge conventions AND  how does it represent social groups or issues?       My  product challenges  conventions  by not being as serious as a a regular mask commercial.   And it challenges social issues by still informing people that that need to wear a mask for their own safety.     2. How does your p roduct engage with audiences AND  how would it be distributed as a real media text?      My product is meant to to grab the audiences attention and to try and persuade them to want to by it. It would be shown on tv.       3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?      While recording I was seeing if something was actually good and needed to be in it. So I did end up cutting some stuff out.                  4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online ...

My Commercial

Image
This the finished commercial I filmed. I am pretty proud of it, but I see a lot of places where I could have done better. I do believe that my production skills have greatly improved since my first video and can only go up from here. I just wish I had allowed myself more time to complete the assignment in a timely fashion. I also see that I still went over a little bit when editing my commercial. I really need to work on getting the timing right as well.  https://youtu.be/8PlEWw3cWac

Editing Blog

Editing was by far the hardest part. I feel that I did better with this video versus the previous video.  I used a different program that seemed to be a little more user friendly. I was able to more easily adjust clip lengths and edit clips than in the previous program I used. The program I used to edit this video was PowerDirector. I really enjoyed it and learned quite a bit from. I look forward to exploring everything I can do with it in upcoming videos. For this commercial, I took the 27 different shots altogether and was able to narrow them down to the best six. I then added them to the program and further edited them down. At first I was panicking because I was way over the 30 seconds. I ended up replacing a couple of scenes and slowly but surely whittled each shot down to be able the commercial 30 seconds long. Some dialog had to be cut, but in the end, it really was not needed to sell my product. Editing for this video didn't take me nearly as long as my last video. I ...

Filming Blog

Filming a 30 second video is a lot more work than you think it would be. I had my mother helping me shoot the different scenes and it was sometimes hard to communicate exactly what it was I wanted to film and how I wanted it filmed. In the end, I think we pulled it together pretty well and were able to get a few good shots of each scene that we can further improve in the editing phase. We shot the scenes mostly in the kitchen where the sliding doors and curtains made the best backdrop. We also shot a scene outside the house. I would have preferred shooting during the day, but the weather was just not cooperating with me. I should have definitely given myself more time to film and better organized what it was exactly that I wanted to do. What surprised me most was just how long it would take to film this commercial. Planning the storyboard, gathering all the props, setting up the scenes, doing my makeup...it took quite a few hours. Then the actual shots themselves! Who knew it woul...

Storyboard Blog

First Scene: In the first scene we're going to show someone throwing away some masks. The masks would then turn into money to basically say that buying them over and over wastes money. Second Scene: In the second one I would introduce cloth masks. I would go over how they aren't the best either and how you could still get infected. Third Scene: In the third scene I would introduce my product and explain it a bit. Forth Scene: In the forth scene I would talk about how people in the old days would use them. For a comedic effect. Fifth Scene: In the fifth scene I would show how my product is much easier and much nicer to use. Even how its easier to clean. Sixth Scene: In the sixth scene I would show the product and the slogan for it. Even the prices too.

Planning Blog

Props: Since my commercial is about plague doctor masks, my main prop will be a plague mask. Other props could include medical masks, herbs and some objects that involve physical activity. Costumes: I was thinking about taking my commercial in a bit of a comedic way so I was thinking that the spokes person (me) could wear a plague doctor outfit while the actors wear casual and athletic like cloths. Making sure that we used more natural colors when getting everyone's outfit. Schedule: on 11/3/2020 turn in whatever I can on 11/4/2020 do the video on 11/5/2020 edit the video Location: The location will mostly be inside a home and at a job Back up plan: if the weather isn't good we'll most likely do more shots inside rather than out
