Genre Research: Coming to America

 



  • I love how Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall play more then just one character. It makes the movie way funnier and I defiantly want to add it into my task.
  • I liked the use of make-up and the acting. When I found out that Eddie Murphy was also the white guy in the barber shop I was shocked. I could not believe that was him! The way how they did his make-up was amazing and very realistic. I would have never guessed there was a Black man under that makeup. It was truly amazing.
  • There wasn't really any elements that I didn't like in the movie. Every part of it was perfect for me. There is nothing I would change. I will say that some of the camera angles were a little weird. Also, some of the royal costuming looked a little cheap to me.

  Creative Critical Reflection 1.   1.  . How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or  issues? m  My video challenges conventions by showing two boys falling in love, instead of the typical guy/girl dynamic. It shows two guys slowly getting to know each other and growing closer, just like how real world relationships work. It also shows it in a romantic, innocent way versus how gay relationships are often portrayed in the media. The way gay relationships are portrayed in the media tend to be typically negative, secretive, and/or "dirty", and involve sex versus shy, innocence and hand holding.       It represents social groups because it represents gay youths and uses trans and non-binary people in the filming. Representation is important. Seeing romantic relationships between LGBTQ people should be normalized. We need to see more relationships like this portrayed like this in the media. If i...

Final Task - Opening Title Sequence

https://youtu.be/N5hfNIovlYk And here is my final task. It did not come out as well as I had hoped, but I am very proud of it. After several days of filming and even more days of editing, I have created a finished product that I am happy with. In retrospect, I wish I had filmed more takes and that the energy in the scenes was a bit livelier. Looking back the parts that I thought would be easy were incredibly hard, and the parts I thought would be a breeze, really made me stumble and slowed me down. I hope you enjoy my opening title sequence.
