Production - Editing Final Task #7


 I got myself so lost and confused starting to edit. I think I have too many clips and am completely overwhelmed by them. I'm cleaning up all of them, but am pretty sure I need to downsize the amount that I have. I am running into the problem of one scene will go great with one clip, but not with the one that comes after it. I feel like I've spent hours moving the same 6 clips around. It is extremely frustrating and making me really edgy and grouchy. What I really need to do is downsize the amount of clips that I have. It is too hard when you have 5 clips of the same scene. Maybe just narrow it down to two and it will be easier to go from there. I think I will create a separate folder for the discarded scenes, just in case something I chose just really doesn't work. 

I'll be stepping away from the editing app for tonight. Tomorrow I will focus on downsizing my clips. Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to stitching all the clips together into a (hopefully) cohesive opening sequence. I am really hoping that narrowing down my options will help me be more efficient and get the editing done. Following successfully editing all of my clips together, I will start to work on adding in the titles and the music. After that, I am going to run it by family and friends to see what they think of it. I am trying to break editing up into manageable chunks so I don't get as overwhelmed as I did with filming. Hopefully after family and friends preview it, I won't have to make too many changes. I nervous going forward, but all I can do is try my best. I am going to do my best to not to get in my own way.

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or  issues? m  My video challenges conventions by showing two boys falling in love, instead of the typical guy/girl dynamic. It shows two guys slowly getting to know each other and growing closer, just like how real world relationships work. It also shows it in a romantic, innocent way versus how gay relationships are often portrayed in the media. The way gay relationships are portrayed in the media tend to be typically negative, secretive, and/or "dirty", and involve sex versus shy, innocence and hand holding.       It represents social groups because it represents gay youths and uses trans and non-binary people in the filming. Representation is important. Seeing romantic relationships between LGBTQ people should be normalized. We need to see more relationships like this portrayed like this in the media. If i...

Final Task - Opening Title Sequence

After several days of filming and even more days of editing, I have created a finished product that I am happy with. In retrospect, I wish I had filmed more takes and that the energy in the scenes was a bit livelier. Looking back the parts that I thought would be easy were incredibly hard, and the parts I thought would be a breeze, really made me stumble and slowed me down. I hope you enjoy my opening title sequence.
