Production - Editing Final Task #9

Finally finished editing. That was incredibly harder than I thought it would be. Stitching together all the scenes proved more difficult that ever imagined it would be, and I filmed way too much footage. I had to cut entire scenes to make it all fit into two minutes. I tried to make it as smooth as I could, but I don't know that I was as successful as I hoped it would be. Adding the titles was a bit easier, but not as easy as I thought it would be. I really struggled with placement, font, and the speed at which the letters moved on and off screen. I realized too late that in shooting my scenes I was not making a conscious effort to leave room for the titles. I also did not allow for enough time in some shots to get them on. Another issue I ran into was that the fonts I chose may not be readable. When I show the sequence to family and friends, I am sure that will be one of the issues. Lastly, I was having an issue with picking the direction in which the letters moved on and off the screen. Sometimes they looked so jumbled that they were barely readable.

While I worked hard on my filming and editing, I wish I had not procrastinated so much. Also, while I initially thought I had too many scenes filmed to choose from, I wish I had taken several more. It possibly would have helped make the transition from scene to scene much smoother and not as jarring in some cases. My next steps will be to show my family and some friends my video and see what they have to say. I will do my best to accept the criticism and really take a good look on the sequence I created. I will take their criticisms into account and go back to the editing to see how I can implement what they've said. Hopefully I will be able to make the changes and make the sequence better. After I tweak the sequence, I will likely run it past my family a second time to see if the changes improved my piece.
